May has arrived

14/05 - an hour ish
I had a bit of a hunt for compost today, the allotment shop had run out. I ended up with two tomato grow bags. I planted a block of sweetcorn, and did a little weeding. There is already a lot more weeding to do again. I placed some carrots where I wanted them and worked out where my dahlias are going to go. Before I went home I gave everything are really good soak.
18/5 - 3.5 hrs
A busy session at the plot today. One and a half barrow of weeds, planted carrots and dahlias.

My dahlias have been mixed in their development, will have to see how they get along in the ground. I did most of the dahlias in plastic tubs, the Totally Tangerine were 100% successful but the others were a bit hit and miss. I have also lost track of the names along the way so I will have to work out what they are once they start to flower. Fortunately I think I went for some quite distinct varieties so I should be able to tell what I have... probably.

Dad visited and while he was there we discussed his next little jobs. He is going to attempt to contain the blackberry patch and install the pond. I have decided no greenhouse this year. In the space available I will put 4 square(ish) raised beds instead using pallet collars these will be tomatoes, runners, flowers and TBC.
