Woodchip Woes

Woodchip Woes
Spring Harvest - sorrel, broccoli, cavolo nero and some black radishes.

On the 5th of March I was full of hope when the site management posted that a big batch of woodchip had arrived, the plot prices make this a really great value way of covering paths, and adding some fibrous material to beds and compost heaps, I was however busy for a few days. This was my downfall.

By the time I arrived at the plot on Sunday the cupboard was bare! not to be deterred I still did quite a bit on the plot... but I will have to wait patiently for the next wood chip delivery.

Very sad view of an empty bay that just days before had been full of wood chip.

Not all was lost. The weather has been kind and the sprouting broccoli has finally started to do its thing. The cavolo nero seems to have responded to the sun and rain too and sent up flowers. I picked them and treated them like stems of sprouting broccoli, they were delish!
