I didn't plant the cat

I didn't plant the cat
Dora making herself cosy in the greenhouse

I had a day off and time to go to the plot and get a few things done. After wrangling the hose and trying not to get distracted by the weeding. They keep growing!!! I set about making a new minimal disturbance / no-dig bed. The rest of my beds have been very much the dig variety, simply getting along with what was there and making a start. Once I worked out where my beds were going I pegged out some rubber lawn edging and spread out some straw. I gave it a good soak before covering with cardboard and soaking that too. The card was covered in compost and soil. About 50/50. I then covered it with weed fabric just to suppress anything that is thinking about growing before I get stuff planted. The area will be for salad items mostly I expect, and I have some of these growing at home.

Preparing a new bed at the plot

In the evening I was staying away from home, but I still made good progress sowing more seeds, and making use of some borrowed greenhouse space. Along with a friendly helper I sowed sweetcorn, runner beans, kohl rabi, radish, 2 kinds of chard, 2 kinds of beetroot and some round carrots.

Lots of newly planted seeds

Time at the plot: A few hours - I didn't write it down though, so it might not count
